Sports that involve overhead activity – weight lifting, softball, swimming, volleyball, and baseball to name a few – are very demanding on the shoulder stabilizing muscles. We see many overhead athletes that appear to be really strong. However, when we strength-test them, we find that they have really weak lower and middle trapezius muscles.
This exercise helps you learn how to prioritize recruitment of the muscles that stabilize your shoulder when overhead. Perform it as part of your warm-up or as a supplemental workout.
