About this neighborhood

The Bethesda office is the surgical home of Maryland Orthopedic Specialists. Located at 6710-A Rockledge Drive, Suite 130 (in the office complex just off Old Georgetown Road and Democracy Boulevard), it is positioned to serve the densely-populated, athletically-active corridor that runs from Friendship Heights at the DC line north through downtown Bethesda and out to the surrounding neighborhoods of Chevy Chase, Cabin John, Bannockburn, Glen Echo, Kensington, Somerset, and Martin's Additions. For patients in Northwest Washington, DC (Tenleytown, American University Park, Spring Valley, Foxhall, the Palisades), the Bethesda office is often the closest subspecialty orthopedic option, reachable in fifteen minutes or less up Wisconsin Avenue.

The office is a full clinical workup facility. On-site capabilities include physician consultations, X-ray, ultrasound, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and biologic injections, casting, durable medical equipment (DME) for upper and lower body injuries, and a fluoroscopy procedure room for image-guided injections and minor procedures. Most first visits end with both a diagnosis and a treatment plan in hand, not a follow-up scheduled three weeks later. Physical therapy at the Bethesda office is available; many patients also do post-operative therapy at our dedicated Rockville rehabilitation facility on Seven Locks Road.

The community immediately surrounding the office is dense with sports culture. The Bethesda Country Club, Columbia Country Club, Chevy Chase Club, Edgemoor Tennis Club, and the Bannockburn and Palisades swim and tennis clubs all sit within a short drive. The Capital Crescent Trail and Rock Creek Park draw a substantial running, cycling, and walking community. The local school athletic programs (Walt Whitman, Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walter Johnson, Pyle, plus the major NW DC and private school programs) feed a steady volume of student-athlete sports medicine visits. The Bethesda office sees the full age and activity spectrum, from skeletally immature growth-plate fractures to total joint replacement consultations with active midlife and older adults.

I highly recommend this practice, Dr. Christoforetti and PA Brian Long. Their knowledge, expertise and great kindness is excellent. I have come to this practice for a number of years now and will always return as needed. They are great and you feel welcome and cared for from the moment you enter the office!

We are blown away at this practice! Dr. C and Brian Long, PA have been utterly amazing! We are beyond happy with the care they have been giving to our daughter as she gets through a labrum tear in her hip! Hands down the BEST around!

Very personable. Shows genuine interest and explains what will happen very well. Takes all the time you need (which may result in waiting a little longer, but that is much preferred over a Dr. Who rushes his patients through).

Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly is the Bethesda office and how do I find it?
The office is at 6710-A Rockledge Drive, Suite 130. The building is on the first floor of the 6710-A Building. Park in the garage of our building (not the external garage, which requires a longer walk). When entering the garage, take your immediate right to the lower garage level (blue section, marked G2). The elevator area is also blue. In the elevator, press 1R, which opens directly into our suite.
What are the office hours?
7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday. We are closed Saturday and Sunday. The early and late hours are intentional. They accommodate patients who need to be seen before work or after work, including federal-government workers and professionals with limited mid-day availability. Call (301) 515-0900 to book.
Is parking free? Is validation required?
Parking is free in the garage attached to the building. Validation is required at the parking garage exit. Bring your ticket to the front desk and we will validate it before you leave. Do not park in the external parking garage; it requires a longer walk to our suite.
Is the office wheelchair-accessible?
Yes. The garage, the elevator (1R), and the office suite are all wheelchair-accessible. If you have specific accessibility needs (wheelchair, mobility assistance from the parking garage to the suite, or accommodations for the exam room), call (301) 515-0900 before your visit and we will make sure the team is ready.
What services are available at the Bethesda office?
Physician consultations across all subspecialties (sports medicine, hip preservation, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, joint replacement), on-site X-ray, on-site ultrasound, PRP and biologic injections, durable medical equipment (DME) for upper and lower body injuries, casting and splinting, and a fluoroscopy procedure room for image-guided injections and minor procedures. Physical therapy is also available on-site.
Do you offer same-day or next-day appointments at this office?
For acute injuries (recent fall, sports injury, sudden severe pain), yes. We hold same-day and next-day slots specifically for new-patient acute injuries. Call (301) 515-0900 and tell the scheduling team it is an acute injury. They will get you into the soonest available sports medicine, surgical, or general orthopedic slot.
Which physicians see patients at the Bethesda office?
All five MOS physicians and our physician assistants see patients in Bethesda: Dr. Christopher Raffo, Dr. John Christoforetti, Dr. James Gardiner, Dr. Peter Fitzgibbons, and Dr. Gary Feldman, along with the PA team. The specific schedule varies by day; the scheduling team will book you with the right physician for your problem.
Do you offer telehealth visits?
Yes for follow-up and most post-operative visits. New-patient evaluations and acute injury visits typically require an in-person exam, because the physical exam is essential to orthopedic diagnosis. Call (301) 515-0900 and the scheduling team will tell you whether telehealth or in-person is the right format for your situation.
What is the phone number for the Bethesda office?
(301) 515-0900 reaches the main scheduling line for all MOS locations. The fax number for medical records is (240) 912-2381. Please call to schedule rather than emailing. Appointment scheduling and insurance verification are done by phone.
